Pratt Community College will look to utilize the experience and success of Shayla Jacob to point their Cheer and Dance Squad in a new direction in 2010. The Lawrence native has had plenty of both, with over fifteen years of cheer, dance and gymnastics coaching, and a 1998 NDA National Championship title while at Barton County Community College.

Track and Cross Country

Competing in arguably the toughest junior college conference in the nation, Pratt Community College has a Cross Country and Track & Field Program that is on the rise.  Coach Cyrus Hall has been at the helm for two years, and has the ship headed in the right direction. In the last two seasons, the Beavers have had six national qualifiers, with women’s javelin thrower Hayley Hunsberger coming within inches of All-American status this past spring. With the success of last year’s season and a good recruiting class coming in, the Beavers are prepared to compete with the teams in the upper echelon of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. The team is also making strides in the classroom as the Women’s Track Team achieved a 3.19 grade point average this past spring.
